The Artist Way is an app for art lovers that provides users with the tools to learn, purchase, follow, and donate to artists at participating galleries. This platform was born out of a deep love for art and a desire to bridge the gap between artists and their audience.

As an art lover and frequent gallery visitor, I often found it challenging to learn more about the artworks and the artists behind them. This sparked the idea of creating an application tailored for art galleries. This case study details my journey through the Google UX Design course, where I learned to transform ideas into impactful designs.
The challenge was to create a mobile application for art galleries, enabling users to learn about artists, explore their creative processes, purchase art, and stay updated on events or socials.
Art lovers visiting galleries often find themselves curious about the art or artist but are left with only a placard providing limited information. How can we create an application that delivers deeper insights and fosters a connection between art enthusiasts and the creators they admire?
While some galleries have started using QR codes, the information provided is often sparse. I conducted user interviews and competitive analysis to identify pain points and opportunities for innovation. These insights informed the design of a comprehensive solution.
Below is the first lo-fi mockup of the Artist Way app:
Using insights from user interviews and analysis, I sketched out three high-level user journeys to prioritize key actions. Below are some sketches of my proposed solution:
I created a mood board to guide the visual design, emphasizing clean layouts and vibrant colors inspired by primary hues. This aesthetic reflects the artistic spirit and highlights essential information in a visually pleasing way.
Initial testing involved participants from the user interviews. Feedback helped refine the features and usability of the app.
This project was an incredible learning experience, merging user-centered design principles with my passion for art. The final product demonstrates how thoughtful design can enhance accessibility and engagement in the art world.
